BONANZA 50th Anniversary Friendship Convention Help Wanted
As always, we are looking for volunteers to help out with certain tasks over the Convention weekend. If you think you are suited to any of the jobs below please get in touch. Remember, this may mean you miss certain events or have your time curtailed, but without volunteers, nothing will happen. Our team leaders give up a great deal of their weekend to make yours enjoyable, so any help you can give them is very much appreciated.
Wranglers - (Team Leader: Bev Young) At first sight, one of the most sought after jobs, but in practice one of the most onerous and time consuming. We are looking for calm, practical people who can handle anything from guiding an elderly guest to their panel to finding lost keys. A car driver/owner/renter preferred to help meet and greet at the airport, but not essential. You will be given an itinerary for your guest, and your duties will be to provide information and assistance to ensure they are in the right place at the right time. For some elderly guests you may be asked to escort them to events. We also ask you to make sure they are not hassled by fans more than they want and to make their weekend enjoyable. Your reward will be to spend time with someone who worked on Bonanza or who is related to one of its stars.
Video/DVD staff - (Team Leaders: Davina Ashby and Tom Gwyther) This job is assigned on a rota, so you can do as little or as much as you wish. Someone has to be on hand to change over the videos/dvds each hour in the two theatres. A little technical knowledge is helpful, but being practical and a good time keeper is more important. You do not have to stay once the episode is running unless you want to of course.
Registration staff - (Team Leader: Susan Grote) Required on Thursday and Friday only, on a rota basis, to check lists, hand out goodie bags and generally be helpful to fans as they arrive. Reliable, cheerful and patient people please.
Auction staff - (Team Leader: Jerri Barrett) Several distinct tasks here: one Assistant to help take in auction items on Friday, General Assistants to set up the auction and show items on Saturday, Checkers to keep a tally of the auction and Runners to move items around the floor so the audience can see them and then to help distribute items after the auction. Jerri also needs a Chief Assistant Auctioneer who will hand her the items in order as they come up to bid.
Set up staff - (Team Leader: Pat Hirst) Required on Thursday and early Friday to decorate the rooms, set up table decorations for dinner, etc. and then again early on Monday (to clear away) In particular, people who are arriving Thursday but not going on the Virginia City trip much appreciated.
If you think you would enjoy any of the above tasks and want to be a part of the greatest party ever, then contact me on Vicki@Bonanza-convention.com
