BONANZA™ 50th Anniversary Friendship Convention 2009
Anthology Submissions

Bonanza Convention Inc. under license from Bonanza Ventures Inc. proposes to publish an anthology of short stories based on the Bonanza characters. It is anticipated that this volume will be distributed at the Convention in 2009 and thereafter on the Bonanza Convention Inc. web page. We hereby invite you to submit a short story for consideration by our panel of judges for inclusion in this volume.

In submitting a story you agree to abide by the rules set out below:

The story must include one or more of the Cartwrights as its principal character(s) and be no more than 12,000 words. (shorter stories are encouraged).

No more than two submissions per author are permitted.

The story must be suitable for general release and be in keeping with the standards of BONANZA™. Therefore stories with excessive violence or explicit sex will be rejected.

Stories may not have been published in any form prior to submission and may not have been read by anyone other than your own editor/beta reader (if you wish to use one).

Stories must be set in the period of Ben Cartwright's lifetime, i.e. no time travel. Flashbacks within the period of his life are acceptable.

No permanent characters may be introduced,( i.e. no wives, children or grandchildren) to the principal characters and no principal character may die.

Stories using characters and the timeline and background from the pre-quel series THE PONDEROSA will be accepted.

Pen names maybe used on the byline, but all submissions must give the writer's full name and address and email address.

Any historical characters used must be properly researched, although some poetic licence with the history of the period will be permitted.

Characters from the series must retain the general characteristics assigned to them by the series writers.

The judges' decision (five of them) on inclusion is final. If your story is accepted you agree that Bonanza Ventures, Inc. shall be the sole copyright holder of your story, for the maximum period of time allowed by law (including any copyright renewal periods), and you further agree that Bonanza Convention Inc. shall be the exclusive distributor of your story.

You may withdraw your entry at any stage prior to receipt of an email of acceptance. Your story maybe accepted subject to minor alterations. In this instance you will be asked to make alterations and you may decide to withdraw your entry at this stage.

All submissions must be accompanied by the official submission form and in electronic format as an attachment or on disk in Word, Wordperfect or Text format. Hard copies cannot be considered.
